![]() ![]() The Nod Shadow Team was based on that idea. Once behind enemy lines, they are capable of planting explosives on structures and thereby causing immense damage.Īrt Direction I've seen video on the internet in recent years of people jumping out of airplanes and doing extreme gliding with both fabric wings and carbon fiber backpack gliders. ![]() They can also use stealth and their collapsible glider packs to circumvent defenses and expose weaknesses in GDI's front. Nod Shadow Team Background Fiction These small groups of stealthy infantry are excellent at neutralizing enemy infantry with their dual machine pistols. Why a guy wielding a flamethrower would choose to wear a cape is beyond me, but somehow these nutty Nod soldiers make it work. Armed with flame throwers that can clear out structures and incinerate enemy squads, the Black Hand are among the most effective urban combat soldiers on the planet.Īrt Direction These guys feel the most like classic Nod infantry in our game. They are extremely well trained, loyal, and supernaturally tough. Nod Black Hand Background Fiction The elite Black Hand infantry are the spearhead of Nod's forces. Either way, it's the Braveheart-esque face paint which defines this character. ![]() Fanatics are impossible to suppress, so they must be eliminated before reaching their targets.Īrt Direction We actually had to tone these guys down for the German version of the game, making them explosives experts as opposed to suicide bombers. ![]() The most devout of Nod's followers, whom many refer to as Fanatics, are equipped with volatile explosive devices that detonate when in close proximity to enemy forces. Nod Fanatics Background Fiction One of the Brotherhood's most dangerous weapons is loyalty. He needed something that called him out visually in the same way that the Engineer's yellow hard hat does for GDI. These bombs can be planted on neutral structures and will detonate when enemy infantry draws too close.Īrt Direction The green bubble over the Nod Saboteur's head was really an idea born out of unit read issues. He is also equipped with explosive devices. The Saboteur is able to capture enemy structures on the battlefield, as well as instantly repair damaged Nod facilities or bridges. Nod Saboteur Background Fiction The Saboteur is Nod's answer to GDI's Engineer, and is similarly dangerous when used with care. Consequently, I could put the Militants in gray hoodies and the Rocket Squad in red ponchos, making it really easy to distinguish one from the other at game height. They are armed with Airburst Rocket Launchers capable of destroying aircraft and even armored vehicles, but are still extremely vulnerable on the battlefield.Īrt Direction The great thing about Nod is the lack of uniformity. Nod Militant Rocket Squad Background Fiction Rocket Militants are chosen based on former military or partisan experience. Toward that end, the Nod sets for our cinematics are filled with religious overtones, and these Nod Militants are designed to look like young graffiti punks, Morlocks from the abandoned tunnels beneath Manhattan and other underground worlds across the globe, brought forth to the surface to do Kane's bidding… Art Direction I really saw Nod as a quasi-religious organization, preying upon alienated urban youth as a source of recruits. They've had a cartoonish villain quality in the past which I felt needed to be refreshed this time around. More than anything, I wanted to contemporize Nod in this game. Nod conflict, and they're available to the Brotherhood at little cost. They train using GAU-3 "Eliminator" 5.56mm chain guns, a weapon dating back to the earliest stages of the GDI vs. Nod Infantry Units Nod Militant Group Background Fiction Much of Nod's military strength comes from poorly trained, but very numerous, militias. Keep your eyes open next Tuesday for the last faction feature focusing on the new alien race: the Scrin. Nod may suffer in late game strength compared to the other factions, but have plenty of fast early vehicles that can deal out severe damage if used correctly. Units like the Shadow Team and Stealth Tank can move deep behind enemy lines and attack where enemies are weakest. They aren't as up front with their power as the blunt GDI but instead rely on several cloaked attack vehicles and adaptability in conflict. The second of these features today covers the stealthy fast attack Nod. The first of the features focused on the grunting bulldog of the bunch, the Global Defense Initiative. Two of the factions will be pretty familiar to long time Tiberium universe fans while the third is a new alien faction that will undoubtedly become a fan favorite. During the three weeks before the release of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, we'll be posting run downs of each of the three factions found in Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. ![]()
